Attention Seniors: The Altoona Housing Authority is offering several scholarship
opportunities for students who have resided in Public Housing or Section 8 Housing for
at least the last 12 months. More information as well as applications can be found in
the literature rack outside of the Guidance Office. Deadline is March 1 st to apply for
these scholarships.
Attention Seniors: The Altoona Area High School Alumni Association will once again
award ten $1,000 scholarships to qualifying students. Students must have attended
AAHS for your sophomore, junior and senior years. Please stop by the literature rack
outside the guidance office to pick up an application. Completed applications must be
turned in to the Guidance office no later than the end of the school day on Thursday,
February 13 th , no exceptions!
Attention Seniors searching for Scholarships: New to the literature rack outside
of the Guidance Office is the Big A Booster Scholarship. To be considered for this
Scholarship, applicants must be currently participating in a varsity sport and a parent
must be a current member of the Big A Booster Club. Deadline is March 14 th .
Are you a Junior planning to attend college after graduation and are looking
for scholarship opportunities? If so, you will want to stop by the literature rack
outside of the Guidance office to pick up information on 2 separate scholarship
opportunities just for you. The first is the Pennsylvania Society’s Benjamin Franklin
Scholar Award essay competition with a February 28 th deadline. The second is the
Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. scholarship with a March 1 st
deadline.
Attention Seniors: Do you have what it takes to be a Lineman and work for an
electric, cable TV, phone or fiber optic company? Global Power Line Academy is offering
a 10-week training course which will provide graduates of this program the ability to
begin a career as an apprentice and work toward a journeyman classification. Stop by
the literature rack outside of the guidance office to pick up a flyer with more
information.
